Rowe Ami Problem

Guten Abend liebe Gemeinde,

ich habe folgende 2 Probleme an meiner Rowe AMI JAN :

Manchmal setzt die Nadel korrekt auf, aber scheint der Rille am Anfang der Platte nicht folgen zu können. Ein leichter Schubs, dann läuft die Single normal durch. Manchmal geschieht dies auch am Ende, die Platte läuft aber nicht komplett bis zum Ende wo der Tonarm wieder hochgeht. Auch hier hilft ein Schubser.....liegt es möglicherweise am Auflagegwicht des Tonarmes ? Ich kann dieses leider nicht messen da ich bisher keine Tonarmwaage habe ?

Ab und an wird die Lautstärke plötzlich auf beiden Kanäle sehr leise, als würde der Verstärker ausfallen und nur noch der Vorverstärker den Ton produzieren. Nach einigen Augenblicken ist der Klang dann wieder voll da und auch gut ....any ideas ?

Der Verstärker ist noch nicht üpberholt, kann es eine Röhre (für beide Kanäle ?) sein ? Es scheint nicht an der Verkabelung zu liegen, konnte bisher dort kein Problem finden ?

It sounds as if you have a number of faults here:-

Record start
Record finish/reject
Sound issues

The start and finish are effected by tone arm cam adjustments and the reed switch for the reject.

I would remove the transfer motor and check the pawls on the crank & pins assembly (fitted on the other end of the transfer motor). This assembly drives the linkage that operates the tone arm cam and gripper bow assembly via the segment gear and shaft assembly.
If you are getting intermittent issues relating to the tone arm such as arm stopping above or short of record then the issue can be down to the long pawl that is on the crank & pin assembly being loose in the casting (also on the earlier assemblies the end of the pawl roller could be replaced when it was worn, note I still have these rollers in stock).
Other things that can effect the position of the arm are tone arm wiring and the spring on the back of the tone arm.

I suggest that you check all of the above and then check all the mechanism/carousel adjustments.

With regards to your sound issue check from the cartridge connection to the amplifier fully for shorts and open circuits before you start to check the amplifier.
If you suspect the amplifier I suggest you send it to a specialist in your country, if it has not had any work done it, it will be costly and will need major work, most capicitors will need replacing and some of the larger wire wound resistors and all of the valves will need testing.

The last two days I played several singles, always without any probklms - good sound and correct action of the changer system. Maybe the problem with the changer system was caused only by the special single, all others plays without problems...

I will keep an eye (ear) open and post again if the problems occur again...
