Jupiter H100 sound isn't good

Hi everyone,

I got an old jupiter H100 from someone that only used it for display for the past years.
I know nothing about jukeboxes, but I wanted to make it work.
So I ordered new needles, and now it plays songs but the tunes sound 'off'.
As if the speed may not be correct but I can't make up if it goes too slow or too fast.
If I should guess the speed is too fast.
Is this a mechanic problem? Can I solve it myself? or is the problem the old speakers?

Thank you for your help!

Jara

A speaker can't change the speed of the record. If you are not sure if the speed is to slow or to fast, play the record on a normal record player and compare.

The speed is too fast, when I slow the wheel down with my finger it sounds ok. There's a black rubber band around the wheel, does that needs changing? Maybe it's worn off from being old so it spins too fast against the pin of the motor?

Hello JaraSponga,

Mostly the speed is slower resp. varies slightly (uneven) when the rubber ring does not have enough grip any longer.
To be sure which speed we're talking about: Mark the record with a dot a count how often it turns per minute.
